BLS GO SHOT TO HELL:
Legendary Grammy winning guitarist Zakk Wylde and his band Black Label Society (BLS) are gearing up to release their new studio album Shot To Hell in Australia on September 12.
The buzz is already starting to build dramatically as the release date approaches. In the US in June, Zakk appeared on the cover of Guitar Player Magazine and he's on the cover of the September 2006 issues of Guitar World and Metal Edge Magazines also. The magazines are a dominant force on Australian magazine racks.
The first radio single off Shot to Hell, Concrete Jungle went to radio last week and has been picked up by dozens of hard rock and specialist programs with many more yet to jump aboard.
Shot To Hell is the follow up to Mafia, which was released in March 2005. In the US it reached #15 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart and hit #1 on the Top Independent Albums chart and # 15 on the Top Internet Releases. Zakk is US Guitar World Magazine's 3 time reigning MVP who in their 2005 year end readers poll was named #1 most valuable player, #1 best metal guitarist and #1 best shredder. In addition he was the recipient of UK Metal Hammer Magazine's 2005 'Riff Lord' Golden God Award.
Shot to Hell was produced by Zakk Wylde and Michael Beinhorn (Ozzy, Korn, Soundgarden), and recorded with longtime pals Craig Nunenmacher (drums) and John "J.D." DeServio (bass), Shot to Hell takes the ferocious hard rock of such BLS albums as 2003's Blessed Hellride and 2005's Mafia to a whole new level of "brewtality."
"I never run out of ideas"? Zakk says. "We just came in here and started knocking it out. That's how you make records." That take-no-prisoners attitude is all over such snarling signature BLS tracks such as Concrete Jungle, Black Mass Reverends and Hell is High, while reflective and haunting ballads like Lead Me To Your Door and The Last Goodbye mix moody melodies with screaming guitar solos and are Wylde's best to date. "It's a real cool mix of heavy stuff and mellow stuff," Zakk explains.
